Automation Mistakes (and How to Avoid Them)

Description:
Join this session for a discussion on avoiding the biggest mistakes being made in automation in the world of the cloud. Back in the day we had System Center for all things automation, monitoring and management, but much of IT has moved on beyond on-prem systems into the cloud. While the business requirements may be similar to what they once were, the tools are different and often conflicting. In this session we will provide practical lessons on automation mistakes that we have seen and how to avoid them. You will learn what tools are now available for automation so that you can choose the right one for the task.

What you will learn:
  • Know which tools are available for automation and what they do and learn which you should you use for automation - based on what you want to accomplish with them.
  • Find out about the undocumented limitations of the Microsoft tools which are available to automate your tasks.
  • Understand methods to integrate on-prem tools (like System Center) with the automation tools available in Azure.
  • See how to integrate effective logging, alerts and dashboards for all of your automations.
